The Cascades

On May 30th, we went on a hike to some waterfalls in Virginia. The waterfalls are called the Cascades. They are two miles into the woods, a beautiful hike. We had a great time and got to know a couple from Worship @ Wade who went with us.

We are looking forward to coming up to Michigan later this month.

Someone knows how to play a bass guitar ??? Just Maybe :)

Our Pup

This is our dog Lady Remington Mocha Delainy (Remi for short).
In this picture Remi has just knocked Ben into a small lake.

She is now about ten months old....

We were hiking in an amazing state park called Pipestem. It is not too far from our house... :)

The Deck has changed this spring.....

By the 17th of May, we had torn down the deck. The yard looked rather empty for a while....

Taking the old deck down.

Ben and Tim taking down the old deck. Ben swinging the sledge hammer, getting the deck down.  Aaron taking his turn.  Good to have hard working boys.

Pre-new deck pictures.

Here are some pre-new deck pictures. As you can see this deck is not in the best shape.  The deck had a large part of it missing, this is partly where a swimming pool was a far we can tell.  The deck also had weak boards and nails jutting up.  We are so very thankful to have gotten this deck up and running.

And they are done....

And this is the deck... We are going to put up handrails later...

We are hoping to be able to invite people over for a grill out soon... :)

The Building of the Structure

Lee and Carol Ymker, their son, Mike, and Jim Friedrich came down to build our Deck.

This first photo is Jim and Mike working on the post-holes

This second photo is the first day's (May 18th) work.

May 19th we put on most of the decking...

The Deck (May 17th)

This is our deck after we tore it down... Wait! .... This is where our deck was....

This is the morning of the 17th of May.

The Original Deck

This is Aaron and a friend shucking corn last fall. They are sitting on the original deck. The deck did have a swimming pool in the space you see in front of the boys, but it had already been demolished when we bought the house.

So this is what it looked like. Many nails were sticking up and the entire deck was in rather rough shape.

But this has all changed now.....

Cool, you have a blog!

Looking forward to keeping up on your life! Love you guys!!

Starting over---at blogging.

Well,
I had a nice long post ready to go and yep it is gone. So this is a retry two times over, a restart on blogging and a rewrite of the first blog. :)
Does anyone know of a way to have new blog posts of others sent to your email?? I would love to read the new post but do not know how to make it simpler for myself.

Anyways, this week has been a normal week, busy, but that is the new normal.
Monday was school and work.

Tuesday we had orthro apts. for the boys and Remi was spayed. Tim was with us in the afternoon so he worked late that night. The boys and I enjoyed eating dinner and watching a movie together.

Wed. we had the opportunity to go to a high school basketball game. Our schedule changed about a 100 times but it worked out. :) Tim brought a 7 year old to the game with us. His Mom had called Tim and the boy was scaring and threatening her ?? at 7 years old??

Thurs is our day of activities. Guitar and trumpet lessons, and I work with the Wade kids.
We also were planning on putting bags of food together for the Haitian people.
We had freezing rain yesterday so we didn't get to do any of that.

Today we are finishing up the school week and looking forward to the weekend.
Tim has had several things going on at the Wade this week. Some sad and some good.
We had a young man arrested that was involved at the Wade, his brother was also.
Tim had hoped that the brother would have a chance at life outside of drugs and jail bars. He seemed to have a hope. They are both behind bars now for a long time.
The Wade is opening a daycare. This daycare if primarily for young girls that have had a child when they are in middle/high school. The grand opening/shower is happening this Sat.
They are in need of several things but I am waiting to see what they get before I make/buy anything. Interested??? Call me.
We are also having our 2nd all church potluck this Sunday. This can be quite hectic so please pray that relationships grow and are gained as we do this.
Tonight we are looking forward to dinner at some young staffers house. These are two young men that Tim has been mentoring this year.
So that is our life this week.
Because of HIM,
Michele
